Why I Chose To Go Gluten-Free

I've been dealing with excessive fatigue for years now. In fact, I can't remember a time aside from when I was a young kid that I actually felt energetic instead of wanting to go home and take a nap. I've been working with my doctor for a couple of years to find the cause of this fatigue. It began with some blood tests to see if I had an issue with my thyroid or low iron. I've tried supplements, such as B12 and Vitamin D. I even went to a sleep specialist who monitored my sleep for a night.
Nothing.
Nothing was changing. I felt no different.
Just last month my doctor mentioned a last ditch effort, to try going gluten-free. She had other patients who had tried this new diet to help increase their energy levels and it had worked. As I was desperate to find something to help, I agreed to do it.
So I am now living a gluten-free life to help combat my fatigue, but I've found there's been other unintended benefits. Cutting out gluten has forced me to eat healthier, generally, and cook more at home. In turn, I feel better overall. No recurring stomach aches or bloating that I was used to.
And now I'm writing this blog to keep myself accountable to eliminate gluten from my diet. (I've already cheated of course, but here's to the second try... er... third try).

SO INSPIRATIONAL. BROUGHT ME TO TEARS.
